This year’s “Meet the Entrepreneur” event held on the 5^th of August was organised by BABSOC/EISSOC in association with the Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

With excellent presentations and dynamic panel discussions around questions posed by the audience, the night proved to be informative and insightful.  Attendants listened to the experiences, both highs and lows of commercialising technology from entrepreneurs and CEO’s. Students ranging from first years to postgraduates attended, and the event provided an opportunity for students to be motivated and inspired.

This year’s speakers included Rob Phillips (CEO; USCOM Ltd), Dr. Hubert Mazure (Marketing Manager; Cellabs Pty Ltd and Special Phage Services Ltd), Dr Alex Birrel (Director of Commercialisation; APT Innovations) and Maryam Khajeh (Patent Attorney; Davies Collison Cave).

The night proved to be a success with 55 attendees. A survey conducted after the event showed very positive feedback from the audience. The choice of, “...speakers from different backgrounds”, proved to be a hit and all enjoyed what each speaker had to say, many wanting “More time for speakers to talk about the details of their business”! Positive feedback was received from the speakers as well as the audience.  We would like to thank all of this year’s speakers for contributing to the event.
